Soft tissue defects over the Achilles tendon present reconstructive challenges due to limited local tissue and poor vascularity. We report a case of Bilateral Achilles reconstruction using biodegradable temporising matrix (BTM) following tendon exposure. BTM intergration allowed subsequent split thickness skin grafting, achieving stable coverage without bilateral flap reconstruction in a paediatric patient.
This case highlights BTM as a useful reconstructive adjunct for selected Achilles defects, potentially reducing the need for complex flap surgery.
