Complex multi-visceral resections are often performed to obtain R0 resections for intra-abdominal sarcomas. At our institution, a dedicated sarcoma team tackles these cases. However, in particularly complex situations, a multidisciplinary surgical team approach may be required. The HPB specialist offers several unique skills, most notably in their familiarity with dissection around the major vascular structures of the upper abdomen, as well as in performing partial resections of the liver and pancreas, which are known to be fraught with complications. We herein aim to describe a single HPB surgeon's experience and perspective as part of these challenging operations.
