Yining holds a Bachelor of Biomedicine and a Doctor of Medicine with Distinction from the University of Melbourne. She completed extensive clinical training at Northern Health, where she held leadership roles within the Surgical Student Society, led the team to a top prize in a laparoscopic skills competition, and undertook teaching roles for junior medical students across. She is currently interning at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Her research experience includes computational modelling, review-based research, prospective clinical investigation, and data collection for randomised controlled trials. She presented an ePoster at the 2025 European Hernia Society conference based on her review work.
