Professional Bio
Viha Vig is a PGY1 doctor completing her internship through the Murray to Mountains Rural Intern Program in Victoria, Australia. Her academic background includes a Bachelor's in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University, followed by her medical degree at the University of Auckland. Aspiring to a surgical career, her research interests span translational clinical work — from ocular biomarkers in dementia detection to outcomes-driven surgical decision-making. She conducted this study at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand, during her elective placement in the Paediatric Surgery Department in 2025. Today, she presents: "Defining an ideal age and weight for stoma closure after neonatal surgery."
