Rowan Gillies is a plastic surgeon who is head of department of the Burns and Plastics unit at Royal North Shore Hospital.He has worked in Afghanistan, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Liberia and Congo amongst other countries with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) and was the International President of MSF from 2004 to 2006. He was an author of the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery and worked in Haiti whilst the Senior Clinical Fellow in Global Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
