Julian Smith is Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery (School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health) at Monash University and the Senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Victorian Heart Hospital. He is a previous Councillor of RACS and a past-President of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons and the Australian and New Zealand Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. A distinguished academic surgeon, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the ANZ Journal of Surgery since 2019.
