Jessica Fazendin

Professional Bio
Dr. Jessica Fazendin is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin and pursued general surgery residency in Philadelphia at Hahnemann University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in endocrine surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her clinical interests include thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal disorders, as well as complex management of inherited endocrine syndromes. 
 
Dr. Fazendin is the Director of the 3rd Year Surgery Clerkship and serves as the Lead Mentor for the Kirklin Learning Community at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. In addition to her UAB practice, she is the Deputy Chief of Surgery at the Birmingham VA Medical Center and the site director for the general surgery residency program.  
 
Her research interests include undergraduate surgical education, surgical team dynamics and gender disparities in training. She is an active member of the AAS (serving on the education committee), the AAES (co-local arrangements chair for the 2023 Annual Meeting), and the ASE.
