Professor Fiona M. Wood has been a surgeon and researcher for over 40 years and is Director of the Burns Service of Western Australia and Winthrop Professor at The University of Western Australia leading the Burn Injury Research Unit. She was named Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2004 in recognition of the response to the Bali bombing. Fiona was Australian of the Year for 2005. Her continued work has led to the being awarded an officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to plastic and reconstructive surgery, to medical research, and as clinician scientist and mentor.
