YURLU | COUNTRY! Private Screening at the ASC 2026 in Perth
We are hosting a screening of award-winning YURLU | COUNTRY. Do not miss this powerful film, directed by Walkley Award-winning filmmaker Yaara Bou Melhem and co-created with Banjima Elder Maitland Parker. This deeply moving film follows his final year as he fights to heal his ancestral lands, scarred by the largest contaminated site in the Southern Hemisphere – Australia’s own Chernobyl.
After sold out film festival screenings, international accolades and winning the 2025 Walkley Documentary award, we are proud to be screening the film at 2:30pm on Thursday 30 April 2026 as part of the RACS ASC 2026.
For surgeons participating in the RACS CPD Program, this will be recorded in your CPD as 2 hours in the Education category and will also meet your annual CAPE requirement for cultural safety, addressing health inequities, and ethical practice.
Through the screening of YURLU | COUNTRY! delegates are invited to engage with the stories, histories, and cultural knowledge of the Traditional Owners connected to Wittenoom.
All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Clean‑up Wittenoom Foundation, supporting community‑led efforts in cultural preservation, healing, and environmental remediation.
Time: 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Location: Palace Raine Square, 300 Murray St, Perth WA 6000
Ticket Cost: $25.00 per person
