Overview: A first in surgical education for the ANZ region, this new cadaveric workshop in minimally invasive breast surgery will showcase internationally innovative robotic and laparoscopic surgical techniques. The workshop features the expertise of International Guest Faculty Dr Antonio Toesca (Italy) and Associate Professor Chi Wei Mok (Singapore) and will utilise CTEC’s state-of-the-art large scale surgical training laboratory. Dr Toesca and A/Professor Mok are globally recognised pioneers of robotic and laparoscopic nipple sparing mastectomy (NSM) with immediate breast implant reconstruction. This technique is at the international forefront in risk reduction mastectomy for women with pathogenic gene variation. Dr Toesca and A/Professor Mok will be joined by International Faculty member Dr Marian Khatib (Israel), an internationally recognised breast surgeon specialising in oncoplastic, reconstructive and robotic breast surgery.

Participants will be split into two categories – those who register to practice laparoscopic and robotic dissection and those who register only for the laparoscopic NSM hands-on session. All participants will have the opportunity to observe the robotic and laparoscopic NSM demonstrations by Dr Toesca and A/Professor Mok. Robotic and laparoscopic dissectors will rotate between a robotic station (single port) as well as four 3D laparoscopic stations employing conventional minimal access techniques.
